Rise Up Grand Rapids by Charlie Brouwer
Sculptor Charlie Brouwer will talk at First Pres on Sunday, May 16 at 2 p.m. as a kick-off to Transcend 2010, a community art project.
Transcend2010 will be a temporary sculpture made of ladders lent by hundreds of individuals, families and businesses from throughout the surrounding community, to be built on the grounds of First Presbyterian Church of St. Louis. The ladders (with large tags identifying lenders) will lean on each other and tie together to form a metaphor for the community – dependent on all of its individual members holding on to each other and rising up together to form a colorful, complex structure.
