Service project bags food for pantry

Our Lenten service project resulted in more than 60 bags of food for the West Presbyterian Food Pantry.

Throughout Lent, the congregation focused on the issue of world hunger. Members brought items to donate to the West food pantry, including cereal, canned goods, laundry detergent and toilet paper. On Saturday before Easter, the children helped to divide and bag the groceries for delivery to the food pantry.

Meetings explore possibilities of mission trips to Nicaragua in summer 2010

First Presbyterian Church of St. Louis mission NicaraguaSince 2000, members of various congregations from the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy (including First Presbyterian) have joined in building relationships with the community of Plan Grande 2 in northern Nicaragua. We are called to this mission in response to the Gospel. Our partnership with this community is thriving, challenging and a source of incredible joy.

The group is tentatively planning for two delegations to visit our partners in Plan Grande 2 this summer, July 8-18 and July 15-25.

Two exploratory meetings will outline what it would be like to travel to Nicaragua as part of the Presbytery’s mission. These meetings are appropriate for “veterans” of other trips as well as those who are interested but new to the experience.

While agreeing to be a part of a delegation does require commitment, these meetings do not. Come, listen, ask questions, pray, and then decide if you want to be a part of this exciting opportunity.
